Teachers track student achievement throughout the year which is shared with parents as follows:
Regular whānau hui are held throughout the year
A report is sent home to parents/whanau at the end of Term 2 and Term 4 for our students
The mid-year whānau 3-way conference with the student/parent/caregiver/teacher is used as an opportunity to set goals and clarify learning and guidance in Term 2.
Assessment tasks are varied to cover the school curriculum. A range of evidence is gathered to make the OTJ (overall teacher judgement) based on formal assessment, student voice, student workbooks and learning, group learning books and evidence, and observational evidence. Teaching staff are available for informal discussions on student learning and well-being at any other time by request.
Learning Support
The classroom teachers are supported by a Teacher Aide and a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour who offer learning support for students. Extension programmes are offered to cater for children with special abilities. Students are taught in a formative way to encourage their understanding of where they are at in their learning at all times.
Home Readers (Junior Students)
Reading material may be sent home in Journal Bags. Families are asked to supervise the reading of this material and to encourage further reading.
Communication
A newsletter with events, policy changes and school happenings is published monthly on a Friday. The newsletter is available to the church, local clubs and organisations as a means of conveying messages. The most recent newsletter can also be read and downloaded on the news and events page of this website in PDF format. An archive of earlier newsletters can also be found on that page. It is shared on the school Facebook Page, Classroom Dojo and Skool Loop.
Teachers also share learning with their whānau through the use of our school Facebook page – Pompallier Catholic School. We also have notices on the free app called Classroom Dojo. Classrooms share learning via Class Dojo which whānau can sign up for free of charge. Classroom notices are also sent out when required on this platform.
Attendance Dues are a compulsory payment and a condition of enrolment at Pompallier Catholic School. Under the Education and Training Act 2020, parents and caregivers have a legal requirement to pay these dues for all students attending Catholic integrated schools in New Zealand.
What are Attendance Dues used for?
These funds are essential for the continued development and protection of our learning environments. They are used by the Diocese to:
Repay loans for building works at schools throughout the Auckland Diocese.
Cover property-related costs and school building improvements.
Pay for building insurance.
Manage the administration costs associated with the collection of dues.
How are they collected?
Attendance Dues are collected by our school office on behalf of the school’s Proprietor, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland. Once collected, these funds are forwarded to Auckland Common Fund Limited, the organisation responsible for managing attendance dues for all Catholic integrated schools within our Diocese.
Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available to assist families who may need financial support with the payment of Attendance Dues for preference students attending both primary and secondary Catholic schools in the Auckland Diocese. Families facing financial difficulties can contact their school office, their Parish Priest, or Auckland Common Fund Ltd at the Catholic Diocese of Auckland on 09-360-3040 for further information.
Application forms for this assistance are available from school and parish offices, or can be downloaded from the Catholic Diocese of Auckland Website
